Audition Process
The TWE rehearses from 7:30pm to 9:30pm on Tuesdays primarily at Sanderson High School band room in Raleigh.
While auditions are typically held at the start of each season in late August, mid-season auditions may be arranged on a case-by-case basis and are typically used to fill immediate openings in sections, or, for those sections which are filled, to establish a substitute player list. We encourage any interested players in the area to contact our Personnel Manager, even if it looks like your section might already be full. We frequently need subs in all sections, and those subs often become full-time members. If you are interested in auditioning, please contact our Personnel Manager to reserve an audition time. If you do not reserve a time, you may still come during the audition dates, and we will do our best to fit you in. Prepare a short solo piece or excerpt (less than 5 minutes) which demonstrates your musical talents and abilities. Feel free to play whatever you believe represents your playing most appropriately. In addition, we want to know how you would perform as a member of our ensemble. If you are auditioning mid-season, we invite you to sit in with us on a rehearsal. This gives us both a chance to get to know each other before any commitment is made. If you are auditioning at a scheduled audition time, you may be asked to sight-read a duet with a member of the ensemble to show your ensemble skills. |
