Shadows Unleashed Animation Project

In celebration of our 25th Season, the Triangle Wind Ensemble commissioned NCSU professor Marc Russo to create a prequel to our Sheltering Sky Animation project, this time using the wonderful Brian Balmages composition Shadows Unleashed as the source music.

The final Shadows Unleashed animation premiered at TWE's 25th Anniversary Concert on April 26, 2026 in the Cary Arts Center in Cary, NC.

In an attempt to make the animation more of an interactive experience, we also developed a way to enable audience members to become Foley Artists, who can add sound effects to the animation. Visit polyphony.org/twe/foley to give the sound effects a try.

This animation will soon be made available to the wind band community as a whole so that their ensembles and audiences can share in the experience that is this Shadows Unleashed Project. For more information about screening the animation during your group's performance, please email us at [email protected].
