Producing all of these outstanding concerts in our community is a great thrill for our ensemble, but it's also something that we can't do on our own. If you've enjoyed TWE's past musical creations, we invite you to become a Season Sponsor and become a part of the team. Season Sponsors receive a variety of benefits, including complementary tickets, as enumerated on our Sponsors page. The Triangle Wind Ensemble will hold auditions for the 2022-2023 season on Tuesday, August 9. We have immediate needs for Double Reeds, Alto Sax, Harp, String Bass, and Concert Percussion (must have experience in at least two of the three disciplines: accessories, mallets, battery, and timpani). Auditions for other sections will also be held as we continue to replenish our substitute player call list. We frequently need on-call substitutes in all sections, and those subs often become full-time members. For the audition, please prepare a short solo piece or excerpt (less than 5 minutes) which demonstrates your musical talents and abilities. Feel free to play whatever you believe represents your playing most appropriately. You will also be asked to sight-read a short selection.
If you are interested in an audition, please contact our Personnel Manager for more information and to reserve an audition time.
Soaring Over Cary
TWE is proud to present our most recent virtual project, Soaring. The video shows off expansive views of Cary, NC set to beautiful music for wind band. Members recorded parts independently and the final virtual performance was assiduously assembled and professionally edited. We hope you enjoy it!
During our 2018-19 season, the Triangle Wind Ensemble celebrated our 20th Anniversary Season. While many groups commission compositions for such milestone anniversaries, we decided to take a different approach. We instead chose to give ourselves, and the wind band community as a whole, the present of an original Fantasia-like animation specifically created to accompany an already existing piece of wind band music. The piece we chose was John Mackey's beautiful composition, Sheltering Sky. We premiered this animation at our concert on April 13, 2019 and received a wonderful reception from our audience. We hope that this gift will help engage audiences across the globe, because the animation is now available for use by concert bands and wind ensembles worldwide, who may obtain a license to screen the animation during their own performance of Sheltering Sky.
